New residents must obtain a SC driver’s license within 90 days of entering the state. They must register their vehicles within 30 days. There are penalties involved for not registering a car within the allotted time.
If you already have a valid drivers license from another state, you will not be required to take an exam. You will only have to take an eye exam.
The following information is required to register a vehicle in SC: (1) Automobile registration from previous state (2) Automobile title (3) Tax receipt from County Treasurer (4) Proof of liability insurance (5) Odometer reading.
